Who Are We?

The Latvian Ev. Lutheran. Church of New York has been working in the tri-state area unifying Lutherans of Latvian descent for more than 100 years. Services are mainly held in our four parishes: Manhattan, Yonkers, New Jersey, Long Island, though we hold services elsewhere as well.

Our two pastors, Laris Saliņš and Juris Saivars, care for our roughly 480 person congregation. In the summer, we run a summer camp for children (with two sessions in Latvian and one in English) in the Catskill Mountains, and during the school year, the New Jersey Latvian School and the Yonkers Latvian School are in full force (the Yonkers School also offers Latvian as a Second Language courses for adults).

We are members of the Latvian Ev. Luth. Church of America (LELCA) as well as the Evangelical Lutheran Church of America (ELCA)
