OUR Schools

Within the New York Latvian Congregation, there are two Latvian Schools: in the Yonkers Parish at the Yonkers Church and in the New Jersey Parish, operating in rented space in Westfield.

Both Latvian schools operate to ensure a wholistic Latvian course load for Latvian speaking students from Pre-K to 8th grade. Each school adheres to a comprehensive curriculum set forth by the American Latvian Association, and complements study material with various events throughout the year. To gain a more comprehensive understanding of the schools and the planned events, please visit the webpages that are linked below.

New Jersey

The New Jersey Latvian School offers a Latvian environment, where kids have the opportunity to hear and speak Latvian with their peers as well as to learn about Latvia through culture studies, folk dance, grammar, writing, geography, history, reading, literature, and singing. While the main make up of the school is children from Pre-K to 8th grade, there is a play group where kids who are not yet old enough for school can play with their Latvian peers under parental supervision.

School hours, the calendar, the address, and other pertinent information can be found on the school’s homepage or on its Facebook page.
